She is a lecturer at Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics. She received her MPhil degree in Economics from the University of Manchester in 2000; she completed her doctorate in 2005 at the Institute of Environmental Sciences of Autonoma de Barcelona University, Spain. Her research areas can be defined as sustainability, environmental economics and policies, ecological economics, political ecology. Her publications generally focus on the political economy of environmental protection, environmental movements, and energy and mining conflicts. Has organized workshops and conferences on these subjects; has been part of national and international projects (such as “Environmental Justice Organizations, Responsibility and E-Commerce (EJOLT)” supported by the EU 7th Framework program and “Academic-Activist Collaborative Knowledge Production for Environmental Justice” (ACKNOWL-EJ) supported by ISCC). Shed also takes part as a researcher in the processes within the scope of the United Nations' Global Environment Report (GEO) and the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem
Services (IPBES).

Working in DCM for over 26 years, Olcay was co-head of SSA business as well as head of southern CEEMEA DCM at BofA Merrill Lynch before joining Nomura as head of CEEMEA DCM in 2017 Olcay has executed more than USD 1.4 Trillion worth of bonds during his career. He has a first degree in Business Administration from Ankara University, an MA degree in Economics and Politics from University of Essex, an MPhill degree in Finance from Loughborough University and currently studying for a PhD in ESG at the University of Essex.

In 2002, he received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from ITU, and in 2003 and 2007, he received his Master's and Doctorate degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he worked as a research assistant. He was a consultant at Forell/Elsesser Engineers in San Francisco until 2011, when he joined Enerjisa Üretim as a project engineer. In Enerjisa Üretim, he was a system founder and executive in Engineering, Technical Risk Management, Process and Dam Safety, Environment, Social Management, and Asset Management. Since 2020, he has served as Asset Management and Sustainability Leader.
